The project aimed to formulate a highly nutritious pap using 100% locally available ingredients, which is easy to prepare, affordable, and effective in combating malnutrition among children and vulnerable households in Adamawa State. The initiative was designed to promote local food security solutions by utilizing ingredients such as grains and legumes that are commonly found in the region. This approach not only provided a sustainable and culturally acceptable solution to malnutrition but also supported local farmers by sourcing raw materials within the community. In addition, the project emphasized hygiene, safe preparation practices, and the importance of balanced diets for child growth and maternal health.
Through this intervention, 50 packs of formulated nutritious pap were successfully produced and distributed to 50 vulnerable households across Adamawa State. Each household received training on proper preparation and feeding techniques to maximize nutritional benefits. The project significantly improved awareness of local solutions to malnutrition and demonstrated the practicality of using indigenous resources to meet nutritional needs. Beneficiaries reported improvements in the health and energy levels of their children, and the approach created a replicable model for community-based nutrition interventions in the region.
