In response to the growing challenge of malnutrition among children under five, Murmushi People’s Development Foundation launched a pilot field test of a specially formulated, ready-to-use nutrition powder. The powder enriches pap, a familiar and easily digestible local porridge, and provides an effective dietary supplement for children showing early signs of malnourishment.
Our team carried out the initiative in the Bole community, Yola South LGA, Adamawa State. We worked closely with local families and used Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) tapes, a globally recognized tool for screening malnutrition, to assess children’s nutritional status. Through this targeted outreach, we detected cases early and began immediate dietary interventions, helping vulnerable children regain strength and improve their health.

Success Story: A Remarkable Turnaround in Jimeta Sangere
In Jimeta Sangere, Yola North, two visibly malnourished children were identified during our community screening. MUAC measurements confirmed their condition, and they were immediately enrolled in a feeding plan using our fortified nutrition powder.
With consistent support from their caregivers, both children showed rapid improvement, regaining energy, gaining weight, and moving into the healthy MUAC range. Their transformation, captured in before-and-after photos below, highlights the powerful impact of timely, community-based nutritional intervention and the efficiency of our pap powder.
