covid-19 palliative distribution report
reached 10,776 households across 226 wards of Adamawa State, Nigeria
introduction
The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented disruption to communities across the globe. During this critical time, it became essential for governments and organizations to come together in support of the most vulnerable.
Recognizing this urgent need, the Abdullahi Bashir Haske Foundation (ABHF) a humanitarian-focused NGO founded by Abdullahi Bashir Haske took action. Understanding that supporting the vulnerable goes beyond government responsibility, ABHF stepped in to make a difference.
In response to the hardships caused by the lockdown, ABHF launched a palliative distribution project across all 226 political wards in Adamawa State, targeting the poorest of the poor

challenges
- Media coverage arrangement was not known to Murmushi and the ABH Foundation Zonal Coordinator
- Key project officers never had a meeting to discus project plan
- No workshop or training was held regarding the implementation of the project.
- Time given before the start of the project was too short.
- Duration of the project was unrealistic considering the area of coverage and the terrain.
lesson learned
- When the right people are targeted for a distribution, even those that didn’t benefit from it appreciate the gesture.
- This activity got us to know how poverty-ridden our communities are, with millions who cannot afford a meal a day
- Many of our beneficiaries were found sick and have no access to health services. Sadly, one of them died the next day.
- The COVID 19 lockdown made situations worst for the vulnerable
- This activity made us realize our capacity in handling state wide project activity.
success stories
We can proudly say the project attained 95.36% success. The actual targeted beneficiaries were reached and even those that did not benefit showed their appreciation for the kind gesture.
Almost everything went smoothly except for the three wards in Numan Local Government Area whose distribution did not take place as a result of the communal clash that occurred, and the delay in distribution in Michika as a result of the breakdown of the truck.
