Murmushi PDF ADVOCACY visit

Advocacy Visit to North East Development Commission, Adamawa State Office.

Executive Director Babagari Baraya led the Murmushi People’s Development Foundation (MPDF) team on an advocacy visit to the North East Development Commission (NEDC) Adamawa State office on Tuesday. The meeting with the State Coordinator, Barr. Khalipha M. Lawan, focused on exploring partnership opportunities to enhance community development and expand MPDF’s impact across the state.
Mr. Baraya introduced MPDF’s vision and presented its key achievements in education, WASH, peacebuilding, and livelihoods. He explained how these interventions have improved living conditions in several communities and emphasized MPDF’s dedication to promoting social change through inclusive, community-driven initiatives. Team members also provided details on specific projects and shared measurable results from their ongoing programs.

Barr. Khalipha M. Lawan welcomed the team and commended MPDF for its outstanding contributions to community empowerment. He encouraged the organization to strengthen resource mobilization, enhance technical capacity, and develop innovative projects that align with NEDC’s goals for sustainable development in the North East.
He also outlined major NEDC projects, including solar streetlights, mega schools, road construction, and infrastructure development, reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to improving livelihoods across the region. Emphasizing community ownership as key to sustainability, he advised MPDF to ensure beneficiaries take responsibility for maintaining completed projects. Barr. Khalipha praised Mr. Baraya’s passion for service and assured the organization of NEDC’s continued support.

Field Findings

In his closing remarks, Mr. Baraya expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception and valuable guidance. He reaffirmed MPDF’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with NEDC in driving regional development and building resilient communities.
Meanwhile, in Mubi LGA, MPDF’s monitoring visit revealed that renovated classrooms, boreholes, and toilets remained functional. Although the adolescent livelihood committee was inactive, some parents stepped in to support their children’s engagement. The hairdressing and makeup shop reinvested profits successfully, while the barbing and shoemaking shop was found closed during the visit.
