Board of Trustees Meeting
August 9, 2025 . Murmurshipdf Meeting

Meeting by the board of trustees to review the organization's Progress and Strengthen Engagement
The Murmushi People’s Development Foundation convened its Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting on Saturday, to review the organization’s progress in 2025 and discuss strategies for strengthening its impact.
The Executive Director (ED) presented an overview of the projects implemented by Murmushi during the year, highlighting milestones achieved and the positive changes brought to the communities served. The presentation drew praise from the Board members, expressed deep satisfaction with the organization’s work and prayed for more funding and support from international partners.
Field Findings
A key point of discussion was the plight of Almajiri children, which drew strong concern from members. The Chairperson, Hajiya Turai, emphasized the need to integrate education into the Almajiri intervention. The Board agreed to seek partnerships with donors specializing in Almajiri-focused initiatives to strengthen Murmushi’s response in this area.
The meeting also explored new thematic areas. The ED highlighted available funding opportunities in research and appealed to Board members in the education sector to be ready to support the design and implementation of research projects.
Alh. Mohammed Buba Ali further raised the growing concern of child trafficking in Adamawa State, urging Murmushi to take action. The ED responded by assuring the Board that the organization, already part of an anti-trafficking network, would intensify efforts in this area to protect vulnerable children.
SWOT Analysis
The Board also received a presentation from consultant Mr. Bwala, who had recently conducted a SWOT analysis of the organization. He underscored the crucial role of Board members in Murmushi’s growth, encouraging them to increase active participation beyond meeting attendance and to take stronger ownership of the organization’s vision and activities.
Suggestions
Alh. Mohammed Buba Ali proposed regular BOT retreat meetings to strengthen collaboration and keep the organization’s goals at the forefront. While the Chair noted that donor funding for such meetings is rare, the ED assured members that future proposals would seek to include budget allocations for Board activities.
The Board members pledged renewed commitment to Murmushi’s mission, promising to contribute more actively, explore new donor connections, and stand as champions for the organization’s causes.
