YOUTH TRAINING IN FILM AND TELEVISION OPERATIONS Sponsored by British Council

Prior to this intervention, youths were trained in various mean stream trades and vocations that were not really their areas of interest. Consequent upon this, after trainings, they resulted into selling the items given to them as startup pack, thereby leading to idleness and involving in acts of juvenile delinquencies. In view of this deplorable situation,MPDF set out to salvage the situation by using film which is trending amongst  the youths, and this certainly drew their attention immensely .
In view of the following, 50 IDPs and Host community youths of Yola South and Girie LGAs of Adamawa state were trained, ten (10) youths in each of the following course areas.

  1. Video Camera Operation
  2. Sound Engineering
  3. Film Editing
  4. Film Lighting
  5. Film Directing

After grouping them in their areas of interest, they were further divided into two groups i.e. morning and afternoon sessions, but to show the level of enthusiasm in the project, those for morning will stay back to attend the afternoon session, likewise the afternoon session will like to come from morning.

The success story here is that, despite the training is inconclusive, as a result of break in funding by British Council, 37 already started commercializing their experiences, especially in video camera operations.

BEAD MAKING

Before this intervention ,most widows that came to be as a result of Boko Haram attack in Mubi North and Mubi South LGAs of Adamawa state, had no means of livelihood thereby became vulnerable, culminating into prostitution, drug peddling and other related vices. With this ugly scenario, MPDF in its magnanimity undertook to train 12 women (widows) in bead making.

These women trained can now boast of their livelihood without looking up to anyone for assistance. They now produce bags, purses and other beads related items to train, feed and clothe their wards

BASIC COMPUTER TRAINING

Employable unemployed youths in Mubi North and Mubi south LGAs of Adamawa state resulted to idleness, phone snatching, drug peddling and many vices associated with youthful exuberances. To curb the youthful excesses, Murmushi d f engaged 25 youths, both male and female in basic computer training .After the extensive training, they were awarded certificates. These trained youths are no longer idle; this training has endeared them with computer literacy where their experiences are being sought after .Some with acquisition of loan facilities are now proud owners of little business centers, whereby they are now employers of labor.
The essence of this computer training cannot be over emphasized as it has provided them the opportunity to be self-reliant
