Project Goals

  • To promote social cohesion and peaceful coexistence among communities affected by insurgency in Hong LGA through sports, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives

Key Achievements

  • Conducted advocacy visits to government and traditional leaders, securing strong stakeholder commitment.

  • Mapped and selected six school sports grounds and two community playgrounds across three communities for peace-focused activities.

  • Administered 120 questionnaires to identify community peacebuilding needs.

  • Trained 30 community and religious leaders during a three-day Conflict Transformation Workshop, enhancing skills in mediation, dialogue, and conflict prevention.

  • Established Community Peacebuilding Networks (CPNs) and identified local facilitators for continued interventions.

  • Improved collaboration and trust among diverse ethnic and religious groups and between communities and local authorities.

  • Enhanced local capacity for conflict prevention and promoted sustained peaceful coexistence

Project Activities

  • To engage youth in peacebuilding activities using sports as a tool to bridge religious, ethnic, and community divides.

  • To strengthen the capacity of community and religious leaders in conflict management, mediation, and dialogue facilitation.

  • To foster collaboration and trust between local authorities, traditional institutions, and community groups for sustainable peace.
