The Almajiri Feeding project was implemented by Murmushi Peoples Development Foundation (MPDF) in Mubi North, Adamawa State, as a humanitarian response to the increasing vulnerability of Almajiri children (street children) due to poverty and displacement caused by the Boko Haram insurgency. These children were left without parental care, proper shelter, or access to food, making them highly susceptible to hunger, exploitation, and abuse.
Recognizing this urgent need, MPDF initiated a feeding program targeting 100 Almajiri children. Under this intervention, nutritious meals were prepared and distributed every Friday for a period of six months, ensuring that these vulnerable children had at least one reliable source of food weekly. The meals were designed to meet basic nutritional requirements, and the distribution process was structured to maintain order and hygiene during feeding days. The project also served as a platform to engage the children in discussions about hygiene, safety, and the importance of education. It aimed to not only alleviate immediate hunger but also restore dignity and hope to these marginalized children by showing care and inclusiveness from the community.
